Karen Rais-Nordentoft

  

KAREN RAIS-NORDENTOFT (b. 1965, Denmark), holds a degree in Comparative Literature and Czech Language from University of Aarhus (1996), and in project organization and management. Founded in 1997 what became Aarhus Filmfestival, where she is the Director to date. Also Festival Director of Nordisk Panorama Aarhus - 5 Cities Film Festival in 2001, 2006 and 2011. She is currently teaching film as well as preparing the next edition of the Aarhus Filmfestival.

Bin Chuen Choi

     

Bin Chuen Choi, born in Hong Kong, lives and works in Berlin
Bin Chuen Choi is an artist and filmmaker. He studied fine arts and experimental media design at the Berlin University of the Arts. He has received various prizes and
scholarships, such as, 3sat Promotional Award at the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen (2002), German Short Film Award for the best documentary (2002), Scholarship for Young Artists Berlin “Nachwuchsförderung Berlin” (2004), Scholarship of “Junge Akademie” from Academy of the Arts Berlin (2006), Cast&Cut scholarship from the Stiftung Kulturregion Hannover and Nordmedia (2008), Honourable Mention of the Jury at the European Documentary Contest of Huesca Film Festival (2008) and production funding of the German Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (2009).

Juan Camilo Gonzalez

Born in Manizales – Colombia (1984). Studied Visual Arts at the Javeriana University of Bogotá. With the support of the Annenberg Fellowship, he finished in 2011 his MFA in Animation & Digital Arts from the University of Southern California. Director and co-founder of the group Moebius Animación dedicated to exhibit artists, films and research around experimental animation in Latin America and Spain. Currently a PhD candidate at the School of Art Design & Media in Singapore where his thesis focuses on the theoretical and practical research of data-driven hand drawn animations.

Jouko Aaltonen

Jouko Aaltonen (born 1956) is a documentary filmmaker and researcher. He has directed about 20 documentary films for national and international distribution, several of them awarded. Among them are: Taiga Nomads (1991, together with Heimo Lappalainen), Kusum (2000), Revolution (2006), Punksters and Youngsters (2008), Battle for the City (2011) and Leap (2012). Besides he has worked also as a producer for other directors via production company Illume Ltd (see: www.illume.fi). He made his doctoral degree (Doctor of Arts) in 2006 about the process of documentary filmmaking at Aalto university Helsinki. Before and after that he has taken part in scientific seminars and published articles. At the moment he is working as a research fellow at Department of Film, Television and Scenography at Aalto University. He has been a popular lecturer in different universities and has published five books: two about scriptwriting and three about documentary film.

Alexei Medvedev

Born in1969 in Moscow. In 1989-1994 studied at VGIK (Moscow film school). Produced and directed programs for “Channel 1”, “Kultura” and CTC TV Channels. Wrote for “Iskusstvo Kino” and “Khudozhestvenny Journal” magazines as well as for “Vremya Novostey” , “Moskovskiye Novosti” and other Russian newspapers. From 2000 to 2006, he was the member of selection committee at the Moscow International Film Festival. Alexei served as Director of Programming for 2morrow Film Festival (Moscow, 2007-2009) and “Zerkalo” (Ivanovo, 2011). Since 2010, Alexei Medvedev has been the Director of Programming for “2in1” International Film Festival. In 2012, he started to program the Sakhalin International Festival “On the Edge”. In 2013, took the position of art director for “Message to Man” Int’l Film Festival in Saint-Petersburg.
